Congratulations to André Simão on completing his MSc in Computional Biology and Bioinformatics! André carried out his thesis under the supervision of Ana Rita Grosso from the Computational Multi-Omics Lab (DCV) and Pedro Rodrigues from the Metabolism and Cancer Group (Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute).
His work investigated how metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) progresses toward hepatocellular carcinoma by integrating multi-omics data across several experimental models. The analysis uncovered consistently dysregulated microRNAs and identified potential regulatory interactions linking these miRNAs to altered lipid metabolism and protein expression. These findings highlight key miRNA-driven networks that may serve as epigenetic signatures and promising therapeutic targets for preventing MASLD-associated liver cancer.
